Channel Allocation in Cognitive Radios
نویسنده
چکیده
In this project we investigate the problem of channel allocation to a set of users in a centralized Cognitive Radio System. We consider three possible formulations of the problem and explain the relationship of these constraints to physical limiting factors. In the first formulation, we aim to minimize total power used in the system while fulfilling user rate requirements. This problem can be solved as a minimum weight matching problem in a bipartite graph. In the second formulation, we further enforce power constraints per channel. In the last formulation we consider the problem of minimizing impact on each user if the primary user returns. With a few modifications we can map this problem to a Maximum Flow Minimum cost problem, which can be solved by a variation of the Ford-Fulkerson algorithm by augmenting along the minimum cost path.

Implementing Game Theory in Cognitive Radio Network for Channel Allocation: An Overview
Cognitive radio network has been introduced for better utilization of spectrum in wireless network. With change in environment cognitive radios have to change their operating parameters to achieve certain goals. Traditional approach for resource allocation is not applicable on self organizing networks e.g. Ad-hoc cognitive radio networks (AHCRN). In order to tackle the issues related to spectru...

Cognitive radios are a natural evolution of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) that are supposed to be equipped with the ability to learn their RF environment and reconfigurability. A cognitive radio can communicate over a primary user’s channel as long as the introduced interference does not degrade the primary Signal-to-Interference-plusNoise-Ratio (SINR) below its minimum Quality of Service (QoS...
متن کاملSpectral Efficiency of OFDMA Cognitive Radios under Imperfect Cross-Link Knowledge
We analyse the spectral efficiency performance and limits of orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) cognitive radios (CRs) with imperfect availability of cross-link knowledge. In particular, in contrast to the conventional ‘average’ and ‘worst’ cases of channel estimation error in the literature, we propose a stochastic approach to mitigate the total imposed interference on prima...

متن کاملDynamic Spectrum Allocation in Cognitive Radio Using Particle Swarm Optimization
For efficient spectrum utilization in cognitive radio networks it requires appropriate allocation of idle frequency spectrum among coexisting cognitive radios while maximizing total bandwidth utilization and minimizing interference. The fixed spectrum allocation scheme leads to low spectrum utilization across the whole spectrum. This paper is an attempt to overcome the problem in such wireless ...
متن کاملDownlink Channel Assignment and Power Control for Cognitive Radio Networks Using Game Theory
We consider a cognitive radio network in which a set of base stations make opportunistic spectrum access to support cognitive radios within their cells. As the spectrum of interest is licensed to the operator of a primary network, channel assignment and power control must be carried out in the cognitive network so that no excessive interference is caused to users of the primary network. Given t...
